Reference Guide To Code Red

Dictionary of terms

Page history last edited by Jerome Star 2 mos ago

This was created because some readers/players have trouble understanding some of the things in these articles or being mentioned by moderators and veterans. If anyone has questions regarding any other terms, ask away at ishtrem@hotmail.com or kirby28645@yahoo.com and we will add your term to the dictionary here.

Alternate - Different, Another. An alternate course was to steal the disc.

Alternate history - A different history. Alternate histories can be considered separate from the original history of the continuity. Examples: Original Series, Lost Ages . Both are Alternate Histories that divert from the original due to Gyro Clypse's meddling in the past.

Alternate timeline - (see alternate history) (also see the article on Time Machines)

Anti-Graviton - Depending on the context it is used in, the anti-graviton can mean: 1) the basic particles that make up an anti-gravity shield which add manueverability of various aircraft and spacecraft, or 2) anti-matter propulsion which can be used in hoverjets and hovercopters on the surface with the assistance of an anti-gravity shield, and space craft without the need for an anti-gravity shield

Avatar - A virtual representation of oneself, usually in a Virtual Reality program. The avatar can usually be customized though it must be done in the program.

Canon - Official. What is acknowledged by the moderators and/or creators of the continuity as true (usually unless it's in the Reference Guide, it is not canon)

Chakat - The 'double-gendered' of furren society, though at times the term is used mistakingly by humans and furres from Drakor to describe the furren as a whole, due to the fact that the first furren to ever make contact with the people of Drakor was a chakat. Oftentimes, the term is avoided in describing /any/ furren, although on Lutia, they are more open with the term.

Chroniton - A subatomic particle that can form temporal shielding or can tear subspace to transport persons through subspace to other time periods and timelines. Chronitons exist naturally in subspace as 'signatures', or natural addresses that tell time exactly where a person belongs: which universe, which time stream, and what timeline. Also, chroniton signatures can tell time what particular point in time you're meant to exist in. This part can be updated as one moves through time, although there are paradoxes in which time cannot create a chroniton signature for a person, in which case the person usually dies. This is reminescent of religious beliefs about 'souls' and how the body cannot exist without them. However, if one loses his/her chroniton signature, it may grow back if he/she is not already transporting through time using individual chroniton particles.

Chrono - (see temporal)

Chrono dialer - Otherwise known as the temporal dialer; the chrono dialer is the term coined for the time machine in Code Red. There are only three existing chrono dialers after the Nod takeover of the Gyro Corporation's space stations in 2064, since the Gyro of the original timeline had managed to convince the Nod's real leader to hide the time machines and not use them. One was kept in secret by the Nod's true leader and was experimented upon in a facility called Area 44 in 2084, though the time machine was damaged to a point that it couldn't be used to travel to times beyond several months. Another was on a hidden island that was owned and operated by the Gyro Corporation, where they worked on their most top-secret projects. The only other one is located in a pyramid in Theriopolis, and it will be found by the Union by 2091 (Lost Ages season 2).

Continuity - Also known as continuum. A continuity is a set world, history, species, and technology (in essence, a universe) from which a roleplay set WITHIN that continuity must abide by. For example, a roleplay taking place in historical 19th century earth cannot take place on any other planet, cannot have any history past that point, cannot have any other species besides humans, and the technological level must be set for that era. Code Red's continuity is set out in this Reference Guide.

CoS - The Chronicle of Star. Takes place in the original timeline (see original timeline). Text regarding CoS is usually in green. Follows Jerome Star of the original timeline as he tries to save his daughter Sadinia by changing time and making it so that she never died. The Criminal Prosecution Force dream on Furcadia is part of this timeline, so Jerome (who is deputy director of CPF after the events of CoS) acknowledges events that happened in CoS and not OS or LA (see below).

Drakor - The name of the planet Code Red takes place on.

Episodic - A type of series in which each episode is separate from the last, though sometimes two or three-part episodes are done. This usually means each episode has it's own different plot. The Original Series and the roleplays done before that were episodic.

Field - A replacement word for 'shield' because usually 'fields' are only half-spheres in shape and don't actually protect the vessel in question

Furren - Like a centaur, except the top half is a furre of the same species. Has four legs, two arms, and ranges through a variety of furre species. The form of furren that could be considered 'double-gendered' is the chakats. This term is complimentary to the chakats themselves, although most outside Lutia feel uncomfortable using such open terms.

Furcadian - Is what all humans AND furres (see below) are called that live on Drakor.

Furre - Anthropomorphic animals that are native to Drakor in Code Red. They are sometimes referred to in writing as 'furr' or 'furry'. They come from a land far across the ocean according to legends. They come in many different sub-species.

Garacin - Usually a word used to refer to the Ancient Book of Garacin in the mirror universe. Garacin was an ancient writer from the medieval days of Karaga that had been believed to have moved through time. He now supposedly exists at all time periods at once, making him omnicsient and omnipotent. He is considered an angel, and all guardian angels (and the works conducted by them, a.k.a miracles) are believed to be the works of Garacin.

IC - In Character. This means whatever it is describing has been done by a player's CHARACTER and not the player himself. The actual abbreviation is only used in OOC (see below) conversation when telling someone to 'go IC' (otherwise known as: start roleplaying as your character and not yourself!)

Karaga - The only continent that exists on the planet Drakor, on which Code Red takes place. Sometimes people will say 'the world' or 'Drakor' to describe Karaga. Sometimes people will use it's actual name, however.

LA - Lost Ages, of which information pertaining to is most often in blue text. Takes place 13 years after the events of the Original Series (2071) in the alternate timeline created by Gyro Clypse. Episodes are in the archive, and Lost Ages is currently in it's last episode of season 1 and is planning on making a season 2. Information about characters and technology can be found here.

Mirror Universe - When contrasted with the normal universe, the mirror universe is seen to be the same world of Drakor, but with significant differences in history, legend, and style. The primary differences are that characters are inherently darker. Because there are few (if any) morals existing in this universe, characters (whether 'good' or 'bad') are usually just as merciless and cold as the other. In the mirror universe, most people do not have a code of ethics with which to divide good and bad, except for the law which defines the 'Imperial Vincan Order' and 'terrorists'. Those that do have a code of ethics aside from the law usually keep this code to themselves and continue to act dark regardless of how inherently 'good' their ethics are.

Nacadi - A word used only in the mirror universe. It is mentioned in the Ancient Book of Garacin. It roughly translates as 'love' and is usually used in a way as 'My love' (my nacadi) Usually proceeded or preceded by the phrase "I'll be your darkness", it is to indicate you love someone outside the small light of love the Book of Garacin mentions, and will love them even in their darkness (or 'evil deeds', a.k.a unconditional love). It is used in marriage ceremonies, when the head of the procession speaks the words, "I now pronounce you nacadi."

Neuron - A particle that is associated with brain activity. Sometimes emits BEPs (Brain Emission Particles) that can be further scanned to gain detailed information like dreams and thoughts, while the basic neurons are what the person sees, what signals the brain sends to the rest of the body, etc.

NM - Nightly Mirror, the mirror universe series that is currently on hold until Lost Ages is completed. Takes place in the 'mirror universe' (see above). Text is usually in purple.

Normal Universe - The world that isn't the mirror universe, instead being simply the world as this Reference Guide mentions it, except for the 'mirror universe' parts.

OOC - Out of Character. This means whatever it is describing is being said by the PLAYER (note that I did not say what is being done. the player cannot be a part of the continuity unless otherwise stated). Usually, OOC during a roleplay is denoted by double parentheses or brackets.

Original timeline - Refers to the timeline in which The Chronicle of Star takes place in. The original timeline is the one we started with Quinn's creation of the FBI as a roleplay on Furcadia in 1999, and continued up to 2005, when we roleplayed Gyro Clypse using a time machine to alter the past. From that point on, we have been roleplaying in an alternate timeline throughout the Original Series and Lost Ages. Since Code Red operates by the multiverse theory, any changes to the past or future will only end up 'creating' a new timeline, without affecting the previous one - which will continue on undisturbed.

OS - The Original Series, of which episodes can be found in the Archives. May also be abbreviated TOS for 'the original series'. Takes place in Gyro's alternate timeline, in 2071. (Note: episode 0 takes place in 2069, two years earlier). Information about the Original Series is sometimes in red text, though since a lot of it affects Lost Ages as well, some may be in black text.

PoD - Point of Departure. Where a timeline splits into different directions based on the decisions and actions that can be made at that point. The point of departure for Gyro's alternate timeline happened the moment he offered his assistance to the Nod. Other alternate timelines could have happened differently based on actions/choices made at that point in time... the point of departure from the 'root' timeline.

Pulse - When used to refer to an 'energy pulse' or something of that sort, it generally means a wave of energy or a concentrated orb (or other shape) of energy fired from a source.

Saga - A series of episodes that all connect from start to finish. Lost Ages is currently a saga.

Subspace - A term usually used to describe the propulsion of anti-gravity thrusters in space. Another description is used only by Perry and scientists of time travel: Subspace is the place outside our own dimension that can lead to any point in time with the right concentration of chronitons.

Temporal - Means 'concerning time'. Usually, anything dealing with the chrono dialers can be described as 'temporal' as it is about time. There are many temporal paradoxes, but none of them can really happen.

Temporal psychosis - A mental illness that can affect a time traveler who has visited a single exact period of time at least two times. This means if the time traveler went back in time once, then returned to the same time period (within five seconds of when he appeared last time), he will likely begin to feel the effects of a temporary temporal psychosis. If he travels to an exact period of time a third time, then he will have permanent temporal psychosis. Temporal psychosis affects the brain and can cause insanity as the internal clock of the mind has been disrupted by the existance of one or more similar versions of itself. This does not include the younger version(s) of the time traveler that have yet to actually time travel to the exact period thrice. Permanent temporal psychosis only affects the oldest version of the time traveler.

Vintage - Used when referring to the year a wine has been made. Every wine has a vintage. Some people like newer wines, others like older (or 'aged') wines. It is up to the individual taste.

Virtual Reality - A virtual world (actually a program) that can be loaded into a special machine or mechanism that rearranges one's neurons in order to create the illusion that they are actually a part of that virtual world. VR can be programmed to have unrealistic physics or real physics. They can also be programmed so that a person will not feel anything, or could even go through things (and maybe not even have any interactive part in the program whatsoever), or so that the person will feel things as though they were real. However, while pain may be simulated via neurons, one's own body cannot actually be harmed via virtual reality.

Wyrmme - Lizard-like humanoids that are biologically reptilian. They exist in legends, and were discovered in 2086 onwards. After the Great Flood, Wyrmmes escaped to the arctic north, where they've lived for centuries underground. Very aggressive, Wyrmmes have begun fighting a war with the humans and furres of Drakor, in an attempt to spread their territory out into the New Lands.
