A Class O planet, Drakor is the homeworld of the 'Furcadians', the collective term of both the human and 'furre' species. The natural species are Furre. The planet consists of a continent which is over 17,327,671 square kilometers in area (a little larger than Russia). This one continent is called Karaga and has many different climates mixed into one another. Other continents just recently appeared and vary in size. 70% of the world is considered covered in water.
Drakor has two moons orbiting it. The moons are simply known as Lunar I and Lunar II, though various factions throughout the continent call it different names so there are no established names for the orbiting objects. The moons carry in their cores a liquid chemical called Plasma.
It has an environment just like earth's. It is located in the far outer reaches of the Pinwheel Galaxy far from the Milky Way Galaxy. It exists in a planetary system called Furcadia by the general populace that includes 12 other similar planets (making a total of 13 planets), Drakor being the 3rd one from the sun. The 4th from the sun can still support life but it is unknown if it still does or not but as there has been no alien contact with the planet, it is highly doubted. Though some time between 2071 and 2084, a furre named Oka Nieba who had escaped from Drakor before it was engulfed in war between the Nod and the Union, had discovered another form of the furre species called Furren on Lutia (the neighboring planet) A more detailed explanation of the Drakorian solar system can be found here.
Supposedly the world was once many continents but some sort of global flood took place in the early 200s. Legends describe the world of Drakor before... How there was once magic and how furres evolved on the planet. Even legends about three great continents, one having been called Drakoria, and then according to legend the people of Drakor took over the rest of the world during the flood, moving the Wyrms (lizardlike creatures) up north where they died off and leading the group called the 'Magis' in legend against the squirrel 'Mechs'. Now the neighboring world to Drakor (the fourth planet in the system) is named after the 'old planet' before the Flood.
The planet's atmosphere is much deeper than earth's and makes up almost 2% of the planet's total thickness altogether. So Drakor would technically be smaller than earth's total surface area without it's atmosphere, which stretches up to 60,000 feet before being replaced by space. The planet also has a very powerful ozone layer that stretches out along the interior of the exterior magnetic field, which stretches out even further than the top of the planet's atmosphere. The interior magnetic field is about as powerful as earth's, while the exterior magnetic field is powerful enough to slingshot any ship that tries to pass it back towards the planet, possibly even tearing a ship apart. Oka Nieba, some time between 2071 and 2084, discovered a break in the exterior magnetic field big enough to fit his ship, the Kitami Star, through (he most likely took the ship away from the planet's orbit and outside the exterior magnetic field AFTER he upgraded the Gallant to the Kitami Star).
The planet's rotation is much the same as earth's, though once every six months on the Eve of Passing Nights does it's rotation speed up so that there are only 23 hours in each day. Between January and the fifteenth of June does it run on 24-hour time, then from there until New Years it runs on 23 hours. During 2084 however, this process has been mostly forgone for slower clocks during the second half of the year. It's rotation around the sun gives it a time of 297 24-hour days until a year. This spans to about 200 23-hour days and 166 24-hour days, totalling 366 Drakorian days.
Drakor is the ideal setting to prove the fictional Hodgkin's Law of Parallel Planetary Development in the fact that despite major historical differences (and the fact that the residents of Drakor became technologically and socially advanced more quickly), some aspects of societies are similar to those on earth. Cultures, architecture, some technology, and even languages have grown on Drakor that are reminiscent of earth's own. For example, the Vincans speak English with a british accent. Their archeology is similar to the England of today. Their type of government is similar in many ways to England's own Constitutional Monarchy. In many ways, the Vinca Union is similar to the United Kingdom. In fact, their government name before they became known as the Vinca Union, was the 'United Kingdom of Vinca'.
The planet was orbited by 3 Space Stations operated by the Nod since their construction by the Gyro Corporation; only one is left currently (in Lost Ages). That one station has since been taken by the Union and has become the VSNS Crowned Gryphon from 2085 onwards.
