Jason Remin
Age: 40 (at time of death)
Occupation: Emperor of the now-defunct Nod Empire
Jason had once been a member of the Nod as nothing but a simple guard. But he fantastically rised from his original ranks and showed Gyro exactly what he was made of. There was little to no doubt that he was once a member of the Ghosts, as when he leads the military in battles against the Union, he manages to show many unique and ingenious tactics. The most dangerous man in the world known right now, and mercenaries rarely hunt him... The hunt FOR him.
Jason is rather more forgiving than other Nod officers. He was always made fun of as being the most merciful, but as he's taken command as Emperor, he now makes the demands... Including the demand to keep inhuman treatment of anyone except the Union and resistance fighters completely out. The man that killed Lance's grandmother for example was immediately put to execution by Jason for murdering an innocent, and many others, especially Nod leaders that got cocky, were either jailed for life, disciplined, or executed, usually by electric chair.
Jason manages to be the most dangerous man while not the most power-corrupt. He wanted to see cybernetic technology implemented into society so many lives would be saved... His police force deals with people misusing cybernetics to gain power. The police are made up of many ex-FBI officers and they are given special devices that can be used against tampered cybernetic technology. Crime is near zero because of Jason's scientific genius with these devices and because he pushes the criminals into the Union, keeping his Empire a safe and more harmonious place, or at least that's what it's becoming, slowly but surely.
While he was not actually corrupt, the emperor did have a zest for power, and he frequently misused it. This caused the experiments on Lance and Kayle to be carried out long ago, along with hundreds of other people, who had to be dragged from their homes in order to be experimented upon by the twisted scientist Teris Alamance. Jason survived many assassination attempts on his life thanks to his bodyguard Yuri. He also managed - with the help of Ulrich - to retrieve the golden disc called the Ark, only to have it stolen from him later by Licin and Eridanni. Jason was then told of a space ship in orbit, and he left the planet to give orders on the station. He ordered the refit of the station, and for it to be renamed Station Janice, after his hero Gyro's mother.
Shortly after that, he ordered the battleships and battlecruisers to be built. He was so focused on his mission in space to investigate the UFO that he didn't know a clone of himself was running amok on the surface under the control of Licin Yukeh and Teris Alamance (who was truly working for Licin). Jason was one of the only other people besides Aluna to be shown Gyro Clypse while the man was in cryostasis, after being collected from a cryo-pod in orbit. After Gyro had been unfrozen and brought back, Gyro told Jason how much of a thorn in the side he had made the Nod for the Gyro Corporation, and then Gyro killed him, inciting a rebellion in which Nod officers that were, in truth, Gyro Corporation officers, turn against their comrades. With Jason's death, the Gyro Corporation was reborn, though too late to actually entirely replace the Nod Empire after Licin had taken over the capital city Pearl and formed the New Federation.
